Valerie is an alumna of the university and has been working here since 2006 and in the Biology Department since 2011. While Valerie was a student at the university, she participated in study abroad programs to Toulouse, France and Quebec City; she served as an SGA representative for two years; she was active in her sorority, Delta Zeta; and she worked in the biology labs as a lab assistant and the language lab as a French tutor. Her favorite part of her job is meeting students and talking to them about their experiences. She hopes that all students feel that her office is a place where they can find solutions to their problems and a place where they can find someone to talk to when they are having a tough time.
In addition to her duties as an administrative assistant for the Biology Department, she completed Safe Zone training, served as Staff Council President, is a North Star Awardee, received a Presidential Innovation Award for DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) work in the department, and is a Presidential Merit Award of Excellence Recipient. Outside of work, she enjoys playing the fiddle, gardening, reading, and spending time with her family.
