Steps to Register for eCore Courses
You must be fully admitted at the University of North Georgia in order to take eCore classes. A student, who is currently enrolled in another college or university and is not a degree seeking student at UNG will be admitted as a transient student. Students with CPC deficiencies or students with Learning Support requirements are not eligible for enrollment in eCore courses.
If you are not currently a student at the University of North Georgia, visit the admissions website to obtain admissions information along with an application.
Meet with your academic advisor and discuss your academic program of study to determine if taking eCore courses would be appropriate for you. It is critical that any eCore courses you wish to take are appropriate for your degree program.
The eCore courses available to students at the University of North Georgia are listed in the university's class schedule. You can search the schedule for eCore courses by selecting the campus code field: "EC -- eCore"
You must also have completed any prerequisites applicable to any eCore course. Please refer to each individual eCore course description for prerequisite requirements.
Upon successfully passing the introduction quiz (see "Successfully complete the eCore introduction quiz" section above) you will receive an email from the University of North Georgia's eCore advisor.
You can self-register for eCore course(s) through Banner Web just as you would for any class offered at UNG. However, all Banner Web holds must be satisfied.
You must have satisfied all of the eCore course prerequisites.
Please check with your academic advisor should you have any questions about eCore courses and your school's core curriculum requirements.
The tuition for eCore classes is different from the tuition charged for on-campus courses.
Current information for UNG's online tuition and fees can be found on the UNG Business Office website.
Tuition for eCore classes is $169 per credit hour. This tuition rate is the same for either Georgia resident and non-resident students. Additional expenses include textbooks, course materials, and test proctoring charges.
Students do not pay the fees associated with on-campus classes unless they register for both eCore and traditional on-campus classes within the same semester. However, students taking only eCore courses will need to pay the mandatory institutional fee as well as the technology fee.
Financial Aid is available for eCore classes just as it is available for on-campus courses. Please visit the Financial Aid Office for additional information and questions regarding financial aid.
The required textbooks for eCore courses may be different from the ones used in regular University of North Georgia courses.
The list of textbooks and required materials for each course can be found at the eCore Online Bookstore—MBS Direct.
Buy your textbooks and other course materials immediately.
The required textbooks for all eCore classes are available for purchase at the eCore Online Bookstore—MBS Direct. For questions about your order, call 1-800-325-3252. While students are strongly encouraged to purchase their textbooks from the eCore Online Bookstore, it is not mandatory. If you choose to purchase your books elsewhere, you are responsible for ensuring that you receive the correct textbooks and that you receive them in a timely manner. If you purchase your textbooks online, please choose a shipping method that will guarantee that your books will arrive by the first week of classes. It is recommended that you purchase your textbooks as soon as possible to avoid paying expedited shipping costs. Please note that the UNG Campus Connection bookstore carries limited quantities of textbooks for eCore courses.
If Financial Aid is your only means of payment, the UNG Campus Connection may be able to special order eCore books and lab kits for you (which you can pay for with financial aid). Contact Annie Barnaby at the UNG Campus Connection by calling 706-864-1464. If you choose this method and order late, there may be a delay in receiving your materials
Class Login is different: eCore courses are located on a different server than other online courses. Students log in to their eCore class via GoVIEW.
Please note: Students cannot log on to their courses until the official first day of class. Although you will be unable to access your course(s) until the first day of class, you will be able to access your GoVIEW login page as well as the Student Success Guide, so go ahead and log in to be certain that your username and password work.
If you added a course during late registration or drop/add, you will receive an eCore letter through your UNG email account within 24 hours after your registration date.
If you do not receive a email from the eCore office in your UNG email, please contact your eCore Advisor at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Usernames: Your username will be the same as your campus email username prefix followed by an underscore (_)ung
Example: If your official email is email@example.com, then your ecore username will be jpdoe1234_ung
Passwords: Your password will be whatever your Banner Password was at the time that you registered for your eCore course this semester. If you cannot remember your password or have password issues, you may access the "Forgot Password?" link directly under the login area on the GoVIEW site. The password reset link will be emailed to your campus (ung.edu) email address.
Important: If you choose to reset your password you will need to wait 5-10 minutes after resetting your password for the change to be processed OR refresh your browser window. If you still cannot access GoVIEW, please contact the eCore Helpdesk at 678-839-5300 or 1-855-93ECORE (1-855-933-2673) or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
- After classes begin, students may adjust their schedules according to the UNG drop/add period. eCore classes can be added or dropped anytime during the eCore Drop/Add period.
- UNG eCore students desiring to withdraw from one or more eCore classes after the drop/add period and before the midpoint of the term may do so by completing the online eCore withdrawal form. After doing so, the student will be assigned a grade of "W" for those course(s). While a grade of "W" does not count in the student's cumulative grade point average, it does count in attempted hours for financial aid purposes and could affect a student's eligibility for aid if there are repeated withdrawals. Withdrawal deadlines for eCore courses can be found in the eCore academic calendar. Students who withdraw after the deadline will receive a grade of "WF" for the course.
