Borrowing from Other Libraries
GIL Express is a service provided by the University System of Georgia that enables faculty, staff, and students of any USG institution to check out and return books from any other system institution either on-site or through delivery to another University System of Georgia institution.
All patrons have a 28-day loan period with 2 renewals (if no one else has requested the book). If you need the book for longer than this you will need to return the book and request it again. There are currently no overdue fines but some libraries charge overdue recall fines. Patrons wishing to use this service or view materials held at other USG libraries should visit the Universal Catalog.
The Interlibrary Loan Department (ILL) borrows books and obtains photocopies of articles from other libraries throughout the United States and around the world for eligible patrons in order to support specific educational and research needs. Borrowing policies for ILL items are set by the lending library and may vary from the policies set by the University of North Georgia (UNG). For convenience, speed, ease of use, and cost, patrons are encouraged to use GIL Express for book related requests if the item is available from another USG institution.
All current UNG students may request books and articles via Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Online services.
