In the picture to the right, I am administering the oath of office to my son who became a second lieutenant of aviation in the US Army in May 2011.

"We are not looking for young men and women who need discipline, we're looking for disciplined young men and women who want to be leaders. We're looking for the same character sought by West Point."

I am Keith Antonia, Director of Cadet Admissions, this site was created for the parents who have a son or daughter in the Corps OR who have a child that is considering joining the Corps at UNG.

Reasons why you should invest in your son's or daughters education at the University of North Georgia

    • Honor and Values - Your Cadet will live under the Cadet Code of Honor which states that a Cadet will not lie, cheat or steal, nor tolerate those who do. Your Cadet will also be expected to live by our values of Courage, Respect, Integrity, Service, Loyalty, Truth and Wisdom.

Graduation and Commissioning Day
  • Leadership skills and minor - Your Cadet will learn a lot about leadership and will be placed in leadership positions of increasing responsibility as he or she progresses through the program. By accomplishing a couple of simple steps, graduates of the Corps of Cadets can receive a leadership minor.
  • Low Cost - Compare our cost to any other senior military college.  Our costs are comparable to most of the least expensive four-year public universities. 
  • Military job or assistance with job search - If your Cadet is qualified and eligible, he or she may commission as a second lieutenant in the US Army, Army National Guard, or Army Reserve after graduation. If your Cadet is not qualified to commission or does not want to, we have a Career Services office on campus to assist him or her with resume building, interviewing, and finding a job.
  • Safety - Our campus is incredibly safe. We have a professional campus police force on duty 24/7. Look at our crime statistics and compare to other universities.
  • Graduation rate - We are in the top five public colleges and universities in the State of Georgia. 
  • Physical Fitness - Your Cadet will participate in structured, group physical fitness training three days per week.
  • No Drugs or Alcohol - No drugs or alcohol are allowed on campus.
  • Beautiful and Historic Area - Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, home of the first major gold rush in the US, Dahlonega is a quaint town that draws many tourists and outdoors sports enthusiasts every year. Visiting your son or daughter means visiting a popular tourist destination that was also named one of the top places to retire in America.

Points of Pride

December 2012 - Kiplinger's ranked us in the top 100 best values of all public colleges in the nation. Only two other universities in Georgia were on the list: University of Georgia & Georgia Tech.

September 2012 - North Georgia College & State University is ranked 22nd among public universities in the South in the 2013 edition of Best Colleges released today by U.S. News & World Report. 

January 2012 - Kiplinger's ranked us in the top 100 best values of all public colleges in the nation. Only two other universities in Georgia were on the list:  University of Georgia and Georgia Tech.

November 2011 - Out of the 37 colleges and universities in the University System of Georgia, North Georgia's 59.73% graduation rate is 4th highest; SAT score of 1107 is 5th highest; and freshmen GPA of 3.47 is third highest (universities include GaTECH and UGA).

September 2011 -  We were ranked #18 among the South's public regional universities in the 2012 edition of Best Colleges by the U.S. News Media Group.

“Sir, my son (name) recently completed his first semester at the University of North Georgia.  I just wanted to take the time to report to you how thrilled we are with UNG and the peace we have as parents knowing that our son is in good hands.  (Name) completed his first semester with a 3.6 gpa and earned 15 credits.  He is taking advantage of the North Georgia National Guard Partnership Program and is taking the spring semester off to attend Basic Training/AIT (Infantry).  He actually left for Ft. Benning yesterday.  When I asked him how he liked North Georgia he told me it has surpassed all of his expectations.  (Name) was also involved with the Wrestling, Brazillian Ju-Jitsu clubs, and Baptist Collegiate Ministries, and plans to stay connected with those groups when he returns to North Georgia.  Thank you again for developing my son into a solid student and future leader.”
