Dr. H. Lee Cheek, Jr., professor of political science and religion at the University of North Georgia, has edited an important book in the study of public opinion and political theory which will be published by Transaction Publishers at Rutgers University in April.

The book, "A Theory of Public Opinion," was written by Francis Graham Wilson, a notable political scientist of the 20th century at the University of Illinois. Cheek said that Wilson "traces the emergence of the ideas and institutions that evolved to give people mastery over their own destiny through the force of public opinion. The Greek belief in citizen participation is shown as the ground upon which the idea of public opinion began and upon which it grew."

Dr. Cheek was dean of the school of social sciences at the former Gainesville State College. He is also a prolific author and scholar, having published several books and numerous scholarly articles.
