Counseling student receives scholarship

Bonnie McClurd, a student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at the University of North Georgia, has received a 2014 rural scholarship award from the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) Foundation.

The scholarship is for $5,000, and will also provide for McClurd to be paired with a mentor for two years post-graduation.

The NBCC Foundation selected 18 scholars from 278 applicants. The scholarship program supports the foundation's mission of increasing access to mental health care through professional counseling services, particularly for underserved populations.
