2 campus stores mark National Student Day

The University of North Georgia bookstores on the Oconee and Gainesville campuses will be participating in the National Association of College Stores' fourth annual National Student Day on Oct. 9, 2014. National Student Day is a day dedicated to growing and celebrating student social responsibility.

"National Student Day offers a unique opportunity to build a stronger relationship with students. It also provides positive exposure to our institution as a socially responsible campus," Marsha Norris, the manager of the Oconee Campus Connection bookstore, said.

The Oconee Campus will have the United Way, ESP (Extra Special People), the Athens Humane Society, Habitat for Humanity, The Food Bank, and Oconee Chamber of Commerce Mentor Program represented to promote social awareness in the surrounding community and student life on the Oconee Campus. They will be giving away T-shirts, offering discounts in the bookstore, and awarding prizes from Oconee County businesses.

The bookstore will also be offering free Red Bull and hot dogs for lunch. There will be a bookstore fashion show with student models and more fun and games throughout the day.

"We are looking forward to a great event," Norris said.

The Gainesville Campus Bookstore will also celebrate National Student Day. Campus Connection will have a tent set up in front of the bookstore giving away Sno cones and cookies. There will also be games for students to play and win free prizes. The event will take place from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
