UNG receives award for parking lot initiative

Hall County recognized UNG's Gainesville Campus for the Park and Ride Lot.

The University of North Georgia’s (UNG) Gainesville Campus was awarded the Hall County Green Alliance (HCGA) Project/ Initiative of the Year Award for the Highway 985 Exit 17 Parking Lot Initiative.

The Park and Ride Lot, located on the corner of Thurmon Tanner Parkway and Frontage Road, was added to campus to provide overflow parking and shuttle services for students.

The HCGA award is given to an individual, organization or collaboration that spearheaded and facilitated a specific project or initiative resulting in a positive environmental impact in the Hall County community.

UNG’s facilities and auxiliary services department partnered with the Department of Transportation, the City of Oakwood and Hall County to make the project possible and convenient for students who chose this option of parking.
