University of North Georgia's (UNG) College of Education has awarded the 2016-17 Fieldale Scholar award to Dr. Sanghee Choi, associate professor of science education. This award is conferred annually to a highly distinguished faculty member for completion of high-quality research in the previous year.

Choi coordinates science education programs within the Department of Teacher Education and facilitates a professional development school community for the Early Childhood and Special Education program with Forsyth County schools.
Her work in developing and delivering a series of professional development workshops for local and national conferences, as well as providing STEM training, education, and literacy has been made possible by grants and awards such as the Fieldale Scholar award.
Choi has been a recipient of the UNG Presidential Scholar Award as well as external grants through the Georgia Department of Education and the National Science Foundation. She has published numerous books and peer-reviewed articles related to instructional pedagogies in science education, inquiry-based learning, the development of teacher self-efficacy in teaching science, and the development of teacher's science content knowledge.
