Mike Cottrell College of Business named a Best for Vets Business School

(March 12, 2014) - In its Best for Vets: Business Schools 2014 rankings, Military Times magazine has named the Mike Cottrell College of Business at the University of North Georgia (UNG) 20th out of 64 schools on the list. The Mike Cottrell College of Business was also the only business school in Georgia to be selected.

"It is an honor to be chosen as part of this prestigious listing," said Dr. Donna Mayo, dean of the Mike Cottrell College of Business. "Inclusion in the 2014 list of Best for Vets: Business Schools highlights our Mike Cottrell College of Business' and the University of North Georgia's commitment to preparing and educating our veterans to become future business professionals and leaders."

The Military Times, comprising Army Times, Navy Times, Air Force Times and Marine Corps Times, focused on the culture and curriculum that cater to military veterans when conducting and scoring the second annual Best for Vets: Business Schools survey. The rankings factor in academic quality, outcomes and policies, school culture, student support, and cost. UNG has also been recognized by Military Times consistently in its overall "Best for Vets" ranking, most recently listed as 21st out of more than 600 schools surveyed on the publication's 2014 list.

"As with all of the Best for Vets rankings, Best for Vets: Business Schools  is an editorially independent news project that evaluates the many factors that make an institution a good fit for military veterans," said Amanda Miller, editor of Military Times EDGE magazine.

Some 140 colleges and universities responded to this year's survey on business schools. Military Times scored schools' responses based on editorial judgment and what veterans listed as important to them. Other factors included U.S. Department of Education statistics commonly used to track student success and academic quality.

The schools ranked in the top 20 of the list are compared in the issues of Army Times, Navy Times, Air Force Times and Marine Corps Times on newsstands the week of March 10. For the full Best for Vets:  Business Schools 2014 rankings, please visit
