Uniform Patrol

The Police Division of the University of North Georgia (UNG) Department of Public Safety is on the job 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We’re the most visible part of the department, and we serve at the forefront of police operations. Whether on routine patrol, responding to emergency calls for assistance, or simply providing information about our campus, our uniformed officers are here to ensure that your experience on campus is a safe one. Making up more than two-thirds of our Department’s personnel, our patrol officers perform a variety of functions aimed at maintaining the safe learning environment we value at UNG.

The primary focus of the police division is ensuring the safety and security of the university community. We strive to achieve this by patrolling the university community, traffic enforcement, and responding to various calls for public assistance and welfare.  Our officers provide protection for visiting dignitaries who have included Senators, Congressmen, Governors, and high ranking military officials. Patrol officers generally work in full uniform and operate in marked police vehicles.

In addition to patrolling the campus in traditional police vehicles, the patrol division also utilizes foot patrols, bicycles and ATVs for general and targeted enforcement. These vehicles allow officers to patrol many areas of the university’s campus where patrol cars cannot.
