Off-Campus Housing Resources

Are you Eligible to Live Off Campus?

Dahlonega students should first ensure that they are in compliance with UNG's Residence Policy.

Off-Campus Listings

The Dean of Students office keeps a listing of the latest off-campus housing available on all campuses.

Finding a Roommate

Having a roommate can make off-campus housing much more affordable. Here are some tips to help you find a compatible roommate.

Selecting a Place

Ask the Landlord

It's important to gather as much information as you can from the landlord. Use this list of questions to help you.

As you explore various properties, it helps to gather information about each site you visit. We've provided a property information sheet to help you gather that information.

Can you afford living at this property? Use our spreadsheet to determine your budget constraints.

Signing the Lease

Know Your Rights

Check the Georgia Landlord Tenant Handbook about your rights as a tenant and things your landlord has the right to expect of you.

If utilities are not provided as part of the lease, you will need to contact the appropriate utility companies to set up an account and have utilities turned on. The Dahlonega-Lumpkin County Chamber of Commerce web site provides a listing of utilities and phone numbers to assist you.

Whether you currently live off-campus or are thinking of making the move, we recommend that all students book an appointment with the Student Money Management Center to review their finances and plan accordingly.
