(UNG opens The Commons, a new residence hall made possible via P3, the University System of Georgia's new public-private partnership for student housing.)
Dr. Janet Marling, VP of student affairs and enrollment management: If we think back to May 15, 2015, we were just over this hill right here digging dirt and shaking hands and saying "Hooray, we finally have a new residence facility coming online." And look at it today. Isn't it amazing?
[applause]
And we feel like the commons means a common -- a bringing-together and that's what community is all about.
Dr. Bonita Jacobs, UNG President: And as we know this will improve our persistence rate, our graduation rate which is already among the highest. Thank you to the Board of Regents, the USG staff, our great legislators and the entire development team for all of your work and effort on this. This matters, this makes a difference and it makes a difference where it matters most and that is with our students.
Philip Wilheit, University System of Georgia Board of Regents: P3 to develop on-campus housing, student housing, at institutions in the University System that are experiencing great growth, institutions like the University of North Georgia. And of course the end result for this is to make affordable housing for our students, and which of course also reflects in a lower tuition costs for all of our students, which is something we all stay very focused on.
Oreva Aki, President Student Government Association-Dahlonega: The buildings are in a prime location because they're right across from the dining hall.
[laughter]
And because the views from pretty much every single corner of the buildings are phenomenal. I've toured this building twice now and my favorite part is the rooftop deck. You can see the entire campus and a gorgeous mountain view from standing there.
