How to Apply

Summer Honors registration costs $1,500 with a registration fee due by May 30. Students in school districts that are part of the North Georgia RESA consortium may be eligible for competitively-awarded scholarships that will cover all or the majority of the $1,500. For Summer 2016, scholarships to attend Summer Honors will be awarded to the dependents of faculty and staff from UNG. See below for details.

To be eligible for Summer Honors, you must have completed your junior year of high school and have at least a 3.5 GPA when calculated using a 4.0 scale. Download the application and complete it. You will need a teacher recommendation (last page of application). When done, please have your guidance office attach an official transcript.

For students in North Georgia RESA (Cherokee, Fannin, Murray, Whitfield or Dalton school districts), your guidance office will play a large role in selecting and evaluating students and awarding school district scholarships for participation. You will turn in your application at your school's guidance who will then forward it Summer Honors.

For students who are not in an NG RESA school system who wish to apply, please send your completed application, teacher recommendation and official transcript directly to Director Robb Sinn.

Scholarships for UNG Faculty and Staff Dependents

The University of North Georgia is providing two scholarships to attend Summer Honors 2016 for the dependents of full time faculty and staff from any UNG campus. The University will support $1,400 of the $1,500 registration cost. Parents are responsible for transportation to and from the program and to provide spending money for their dependent while at Summer Honors. A scholarship committee external to Summer Honors will evaluate the applicants and forward their recommendations to Director Robb Sinn. For these applications, the due date is April 8, 2016. Dr. Sinn will take the recommendations of the scholarship committee verbatim and notify scholarship recipients and wait-listed applicants in early May.

The application for the UNG Scholarships is different than the one linked in the menu area on the left. Here is the correct application link for UNG faculty and staff. If awarded the scholarship, the family must accept or decline within 15 days of notification. If accepted, a parent registration fee of $100 will be due by June 10, 2016.
