What is your major/minor?

DD/ Chemistry and Engineering with a minor in Mathematics

What year in school are you?

3rd Year

Interesting fact?

During my summers I enjoy teaching kids how to swim.

CHEM 1211

What are your short-term and long-term goals, and how does SI (Supplemental Instruction) relate to those?

My short term goal is to make it through college and become a chemical engineer. For long term goals, I plan on eventually teaching chemistry. SI has allowed me to evolve my studying techniques and my perspective on the types of learning.

What is your favorite SI moment?

When the light-bulb turns on and the student understand what they are doing.

What have you gained from being an SI facilitator?

The experience of helping others

What study tips/techniques do you have for students?

Learn the method or concept, not the problems.

What do you like/what excites you about the material you SI for?

Chemistry is a beautifully-complex fundamental part of life. It allows for better understanding of our surroundings.

What has been your favorite collaborative learning technique (CLT) that you have done in your sessions?

Having the students teach each other how to go through a problem. It allows for them to understand the material better by teaching it to others. I perspective that most people do not get.
