What We Offer

Cascade is the content management system we use for our ung.edu site. Training in Cascade is mandatory for web content editors to have editing access to their department site.

Descriptions:

Cascade Basic I:

Participants learn about:

  • Content approval process
  • Copyright and ADA compliance
  • Who maintains online directory and department faculty/staff listings content
  • Overview of a webpage and its parts
  • The Cascade interface
  • Supported browsers

Participants learn how to:

  • Login to Cascade
  • Edit existing content (pages, reusable blocks, images, and documents)
  • Upload images (single, multiple), and insert it into a page
  • Upload a document, and create a hyperlink to the document
  • Save/Update draft or save for approval

These have been broken down into individual sections in the online training pages.

Cascade Basic II

Participants learn about:

  • The difference between pages and blocks
  • How blocks provide special functionality with a simple interface
  • Why index pages are important in folders

Participants learn how to:

  • Create new pages
  • Create new blocks (reusable, expandable/tab, and rss aggregator)
  • Insert blocks into a page
  • Create new folders
  • Add and edit links in their site menu

Cascade Profiles:

Participants learn how to:

  • Create and update a profile webpage
  • Upload a profile image, and edit existing profile images
  • Request a profile image (headshot photo) from University Relations
  • What is considered an appropriate headshot photo
  • Troubleshoot issues with department fac/staff listing

Cascade Slideshows:

Participants learn how to -

  • Prepare images for a slideshow
  • Upload images to the Cascade system
  • Edit the slideshow block to add their images
  • Add the slideshow block to a page

Machforms:

Machforms is the software we use for most web forms on the following domains that don't require workflows:  ung.edu, my.ung.edu, and blog.ung.edu.

2016 Training Schedule:

Training is scheduled on an individual basis, either in the office or via Lync. We will also have some online materials soon.

UNG follows Section 508 Standards and WCAG 2.0 for web accessibility. If you require the content on this web page in another format, please contact the ADA Coordinator.
