Dr. Miriam Segura-Totten is collaborating with biology education students Kristen Howard, Kelsee Ryan and Emma Thomaswick, and Dr. April Nelms from the College of Education on a project to better understand how students read biology literature. The study centers on investigating the obstacles that undergraduates encounter when reading biology research articles. The ultimate goal of this research is to create ways of analyzing the literature that allow students to overcome these obstacles. To attempt to determine these barriers, the research team will conduct focus groups and “think aloud” exercises with biology students at UNG.
