Authorization to Discuss Records

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (hereafter referred to as FERPA), governs the protection of our students’ privacy.

Student education records may not be disclosed to anyone unless the student has given written consent.

On Banner, a student has the option to set up an authorization code that will allow UNG to discuss his/her education records (including, but not limited to, grades, class schedule, class standing, financial aid and billing information, etc.) with specifically named people. Each of these individuals will use the authorization code.

Parents calling our office:
You must supply the authorization code before we can discuss student records with you.

Students visiting our office:
You must show us your student ID.

Parents visiting our office:
You must supply a valid driver's license and have a FERPA authorization in place on Banner.

A student may set up/change this authorization code in Banner under the "Student" tab using the "Update Authorization to Release/Discuss Education Records" option.

UNG follows Section 508 Standards and WCAG 2.0 for web accessibility. If you require the content on this web page in another format, please contact the ADA Coordinator.
