Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) at UNG

Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) is an initiative at UNG promoting writing as an integral part of a college education in all disciplines and courses.

Our values and goals are informed by the Statement of WAC Principles and Practices.

    WAC Leadership

    Dr. Jim Shimkus
    Professor Anita Turlington

    WAC’s Mission

The mission of WAC at UNG is to promote writing and writing instruction as valuable learning tools in all disciplines and courses. To that end, we have developed several goals:

    • To provide support for instructors in the form of ongoing faculty development, including workshops, online resources, and consultations.
    • To promote the development of writing-focused courses in the disciplines.
    • To offer curriculum-based writing instruction support for instructors and students via the Writing Fellows Program.
    • To collaborate with First-Year Composition to promote the writing process and transfer in first-year writing courses.

    Writing Fellows Program

If you are interested in assisting students to improve the quality of their writing for lasting success both in and out of the classroom, be a part of the Writing Fellows Program.
