About LEAP

LEAP (Liberal Education and America’s Promise) is an AAC&U (Association of American Colleges and Universities) initiative designed to provide institutions of higher education with a practical framework for delivering an inclusive liberal education in a complex and diverse world. 

LEAP into Action Grant

As an active member of LEAP States Georgia, UNG wishes to implement the use of LEAP’s ideas and tools on all campuses by inviting faculty and staff submissions for a grant opportunity called LEAP into Action.

2018-2019 LEAP into Action Grant: Application Opens in Fall

In consideration of workloads, LEAP into Action is designed to provide support for small-scale yet impactful changes to existing coursework or an entirely new project or assignment. Individuals or teams may apply for a grant that will support time and materials to implement a LEAP-related project.

LEAP into Action will award 20 projects with up to $1,000 per award. Submissions should include:
  • Name, email address, department, and primary campus of applicant. If submitting as a team, the individual submitting the application in the online portal will be designated as the primary contact
  • Proposal title
  • Thorough description of project or assignment that includes anticipated goals and merits, and indicates whether it is new or a redesign (max. 750 words)
  • Explanation of how the project or assignment integrates LEAP ideas or tools (Essential Learning Outcomes, Principles of Excellence, High-Impact Practices, VALUE Rubrics, etc.) (max. 500 words)
  • System for measuring success (max. 500 words)
  • Timeline for Implementation (max. 300 words)
  • Budget report outlining use of funds or justification for compensation

Awardees will be expected to participate in a LEAP event associated with UNG’s SOIRE research day.

The opportunity is open to all faculty and staff. We will be accepting applications again in the fall.
