Special Weather Statement from the Commandant

Due to the winter weather, the Office of the Commandant of Cadets at the University of North Georgia has modified all remaining weekend training for Saturday, Jan. 7 and Sunday, Jan. 8 as follows:

  • Non-Commissioned Officer’s Academy (NCOA) graduation scheduled for Saturday morning is cancelled. Diplomas will be awarded to sophomore graduates without ceremony.
  • FROGs will continue to train all day Saturday and part of Sunday on the Dahlonega Campus only.
  • There is no FROG Week graduation ceremony on Sunday. FROGS will receive their crests in separate company formations and no parents or guests need to attend.
  • Parents of FROGs/new military students should NOT come to campus this weekend to assist in move-in, to drop off supplies, or to attend any ceremonial events. Parents of FROGs may visit the Dahlonega campus any afternoon next week to drop off supplies. They should coordinate the time of their visit with their son or daughter, because each student’s class schedule is different.
  • At least one member of the Commandant’s staff will be on campus all weekend to take care of any situations that may arise.
  • In case of bona fide family emergencies, parents can contact a representative of the Commandant’s staff by calling 706-968-9395.
  • The dining facility will remain open for all meals this weekend, regardless of weather. All students will have the opportunity to eat three meals daily.
  • We strongly encourage all cadets to stay off the roadways this weekend.
  • UNG will make announcements concerning next week’s classes via the university website.
  • New freshmen will attend their first classes on time, whenever classes begin next week.
  • Upperclassmen and returning cadets should use extreme caution when traveling to Dahlonega. They should call their company commander or first sergeant if they are unable to make the scheduled Sunday recall formation.
