Student COVID-19 FAQ & Resources

Will students receive a refund on tuition or fees relative to the changes being made for spring semester?

The unprecedented move to emergency remote delivery of instruction for UNG, and all University System of Georgia institutions (USG), required careful consideration of mandatory fees.  At the direction of USG leadership, UNG has processed partial refunds of some mandatory fees.  All students who paid transportation and activity fees received a partial refund based upon campus.  Additionally, UNG issued partial refunds for housing and dining.

While we have issued partial refunds as noted above, there are no plans to refund tuition.  Our faculty have gone to great lengths to transition courses online quickly to provide emergency remote delivery of instruction.  Our goal is to support students in their continued educational progress.  Rest assured that we are committed to maintaining the high-quality academic experience for which UNG is known.

We will notify students via UNG student email accounts and post information on the UNG website when the refund processes have been completed.

In the meantime, it is critical that all students indicate a refund preference to facilitate timely receipt of any refunds that may be due to them. You may review, elect, or change your refund preference by selecting the “Selecting a Refund Preference” button on UNG’s Business Office website.

Are students able to remain on campus during this time of suspended instruction?

USG guidance indicates that most students should vacate residence halls by March 29.  UNG is implementing a paced move-out procedure to comply with public health guidelines. Students should check their student email accounts for additional move-out instructions. Students who have concerns regarding their move-out appointments should email or Students who are unable to go home at this time may file an Appeal to Retain Student Housing (login required).
