East Asian Studies (B.A.)
Gain entry to a new world with UNG's Bachelor of Arts with a Major in East Asian Studies. This immersive program takes a multidisciplinary approach to East Asia. Explore the history, politics, society, philosophy, arts, cinema, languages, and literature of China, Japan, and Korea.
Students in this program will go abroad for at least one summer, developing a greater cultural understanding and fluency in the native language.

Why Get a Degree in East Asian Studies?
- Gain broad contextual knowledge as well as specialized expertise. You will study the complexities of the region as a whole, while also choosing to concentrate in one of the following:
- Chinese studies
- Japanese studies
- Korean studies
- Become fluent in a new language. Students will gain written and spoken fluency in one of the following languages:
- Chinese
- Japanese
- Korean
- Immerse yourself in a new culture abroad. To complete this degree, students must study abroad in their country of concentration for at least one summer term. Students will experience life in East Asia while taking a study abroad program.
- Become a leader on a region of major global importance. East Asia has geopolitical and economic significance to the whole world. Gaining fluency in this region's languages and cultures could help you stand out as a leader.
What Skills Will I Learn?
Students in East Asian Studies will examine the region through different lenses, becoming acquainted with multiple disciplines and approaches, including anthropology, film studies, history, international relations, literary criticism, philosophy, political science, and the visual arts.
