Education Abroad Fair

Welcome to the Virtual Education Abroad Fair!

This year the UNG Education Abroad Fair has gone virtual and will be in Microsoft Teams. Come join us this September 28 and 29 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There will be various channels (aka booths) which you can visit like an in-person Education Abroad Fair experience! Use the Microsoft Teams User Guide for if you need help getting set up.

Here is How it Will Work

In each booth, you'll find:

  1. An open video meeting with representatives who can tell you more about the available programs and answer all your questions. You can enter with your video and microphone turned off, asking your questions via the chat, or you can engage face-to-face. Whichever you’re more comfortable with!
  2. A tab with general information about the program which you can look over without entering the video meeting.
  3. A tab where you can sign up to receive more information about the program through email.

Have questions during the Fair?

Whether they’re general education abroad questions, or questions about how to get around the fair, we’re here to help.

We will be standing by in the information desk booth from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to answer any questions you may have.

Link to the information desk will be updated on the days of the fair.

Information Sessions

In addition to our booths, we’ll also be offering two half-hour info sessions per day, which will help you choose a program and make a financial plan.
  • Choosing a Program: 11:00 to 11:30 a.m.
  • Financing Education Abroad: Noon to 12:30 p.m.

Understanding a Program

Before visiting the booths, it might be helpful to think about the kinds of things you’ll want to know about each program. Here are some questions you might want to ask:

  • What can you tell me about program destination?
  • What’s the best part about this program?
  • What classes can I take on this program?
  • Where would I live during this program?
  • What kind of support would I have while I’m there?
  • Who are the other students I’ll be with on the program? (i.e., other UNG students, students from various US universities, international students, local students, etc.)
  • What excursions or cultural activities are included in this program?

Types of Programs

There are many different types programs, and it can be helpful to know a little bit about them before diving in.

Faculty-Led Program
Led by a professor from UNG/USG who teaches the course or courses students take while abroad and is there to support them along the way.
Direct Enrollment Program

Allows you to be enrolled directly in at a foreign academic institution, just like a local student.

Exchange Program

Like a direct enrollment, you’ll be enrolled like a local student at an academic institution abroad. However, on an exchange. You would still pay UNG tuition, rather than the cost of the institution you’re attending, making these programs more cost-effective.

Third-Party Programs

UNG has partnered with three third-party education abroad providers: International Student Exchange Program (ISEP), Council on International Education Exchange (CIEE ) and International Studies Abroad (ISA). These organizations each provide a wide range of programs, and have staff members on site to support you both before and during the program.

Navigating the Fair

We are organizing the various booths at the fair so you can find links to the programs and sessions that you are interested by searching by topic.

Details will be available in late September.
