Chapters

Currently, fraternity and sorority system is governed by two councils: Interfraternity Council and Panhellenic Council. The executive board members and delegates from every chapter  meet on a regular basis to discuss matters affecting Fraternity and Sorority Life and greater UNG communities.

Interfraternity Council (IFC) Chapters

IFC is comprised of the eight inter/national fraternities :

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. (Historically African-American)

  • National Founding Date: December 4, 1906, at Cornell University
  • National Website: Alpha Phi Alpha
  • UNG Founding Date: April 18, 2004
  • Chapter Name: Tau Rho
  • Mission: “Develops leaders, promotes brotherhood and academic excellence, while providing service and advocacy for our communities.”
  • Philanthropies: Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America
Note: We are currently trying to re-establish Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Delta Chi

  • National Founding Date: October 13, 1890, at Cornell University
  • National Website: Delta Chi
  • UNG Founding Date: 2015
  • Motto: “To promote friendship, develop character, advance justice and assist in the acquisition of a sound education.”
  • Philanthropies: The V Foundation for Cancer Research and Back Pack Buddies Food Prorgam
  • Average Chapter GPA, Spring 2018: 2.95

Farmhouse (Previously Sigma Omega)

  • Farmhouse National Founding Date: April 15, 1905, at University of Missouri
  • National Website: Farmhouse
  • Chapter Name: this organization is a colony
  • Motto: “Building the Whole Man through four-fold development: Intellectually, Spiritually, Socially/Morally and Physically.”
  • Philanthropies: Veterans of Foreign Wars and Be the Match
  • Average Chapter GPA, Spring 2018: 2.95

Kappa Sigma

  • National Founding Date: December 10, 1896, at University of Virginia
  • National Website: Kappa Sigma
  • UNG Founding Date: February 11, 1885
  • Chapter Name: Rho Prime
  • Values: “Is focused upon the Four Pillars of Fellowship, Leadership, Scholarship and Service. As a values-based men’s fraternity, Kappa Sigma strictly forbids hazing and fosters meaningful college experiences by offering progressive membership development and pledge education.”
  • Philanthropies: Military Heroes Campaign

Pi Kappa Phi

  • National Founding Date: December 10, 1904, at the College of Charleston
  • National Website: Pi Kappa Phi
  • UNG Founding Date: May 22, 1971
  • Chapter Name: Delta Beta
  • Mission: “To create an uncommon and lifelong brotherhood that develops leaders and encourages service to others for the betterment of our communities.”
  • Philanthropies: The Ability Expereicne
  • Funds Raised in 2017-2018: $1,999.00
  • Average Chapter GPA, Spring 2018: 2.96

Sigma Alpha Epsilon

  • National Founding Date: March 9, 1856, at the University of Alabama
  • National Website: Sigma Alpha Epsilon
  • UNG Founding Date: September 29, 1879
  • Chapter Name: Georgia Delta
  • Mission: “To promote the highest standards of friendship, scholarship and service for our members based upon the ideals set forth by our Founders and as specifically enunciated in “The True Gentleman.”
  • Philanthropies: Children’s Miracle Network and Dawson Human Society
  • Funds Raised in 2017-2018: $1,200.00
  • Average Chapter GPA, Spring 2018: 2.79

Sigma Chi

  • National Founding Date: July 28, 1855, at Miami University
  • National Website: Sigma Chi
  • UNG Founding Date: May 22, 1982
  • Chapter Name: Theta Epsilon
  • Purpose: “The fundamental purpose of the Sigma Chi Fraternity is the cultivation, maintenance and accomplishment of the ideals of Friendship, Justice and Learning within our membership.”
  • Philanthropies: Huntsman Cancer Foundation and Stephen Jordan Foundation
  • Funds Raised in 2017-2018: $11,389.50
  • Average Chapter GPA, Spring 2018: 2.68

Sigma Nu

  • National Founding Date: January 1, 1869, at Virginia Military Institute
  • National Website: Sigma Nu
  • UNG Founding Date: 1881
  • Chapter Name: Kappa – Ninth chapter to be established since the beginning of Sigma Nu nationally
  • Mission: ”To develop ethical leaders inspired by the principles of Love, Honor and Truth; to foster the personal growth of each man's mind, heart and character; to perpetuate lifelong friendships and commitment to the fraternity.”
  • Philanthropies: Disabled American Veterans and Helping Hands Initiative
  • Average Chapter GPA, Spring 2018: 3.05

Panhellenic Association

The Panhellenic Association is comprised of the six inter/national sororities:

Alpha Gamma Delta

  • Mission: “Alpha Gamma Delta is an international women's fraternity that promotes academic excellence, philanthropic giving, ongoing leadership and personal development and above all, a spirit of loving sisterhood.”
  • Philanthropy: Meals on Wheels and Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation
  • Funds Raised in 2017-2018: $6,013.52
  • Average Chapter GPA, Spring 2018: 3.34

Delta Phi Epsilon

  • National Founding Date: March 17th, 1917 at New York University
  • National Website: https://www.dphie.org/
  • UNG Founding Date: April 11th, 2015
  • Chapter Name: Gamma Onega
  • Mission: “Delta Phi Epsilon develops a social consciousness and a commitment to think and act for the greater good. We assure continuous development and achievement for women by embracing our founding principles of Justice, Sisterhood, and Love."
  • Philanthropies: Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD), and Delta Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation

Delta Zeta

  • National Founding Date: October 24, 1902 at Miami University

  • Chapter Name: Xi Xi
  • Purpose: “To create among a group of women a true and lasting friendship, to encourage one another in the pursuit of knowledge, to promote values-based living and embrace social responsibility.”

Kappa Delta

  • National Founding Date: October 23rd 1897 at State Female Normal School (now Longwood University)

  • Chapter Name: Epsilon Gamma
  • Purpose: “To promote true friendship among the college girls of our country by inculcating into their hearts and lives those principles of truth, of honor, of duty, without which there can be no true friendship.”
  • Philanthropies: Girl Scouts, Northern Star, and Prevent Child Abuse America
  • Funds Raised in 2017-2018: $ 43,965.00

Phi Mu

  • National Founding Date: March 4th, 1852 at Wesleyan College

  • UNG Founding Date: February, 1973
  • Chapter Name: Kappa Upsilon
  • Mission: “Provides personal and academic development, service to others, commitment to excellence and lifelong friendship through a shared tradition. Phi Mu promotes vibrant living, encouraging members to achieve their personal best.”
  • Philanthropies: Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals
  • Funds Raised in 2017-2018: $2,748.50
  • Average Chapter GPA, Spring 2018: 3.34

Sigma Kappa

  • National Founding Date: November 9th, 1874 at Colby College
  • National Website: https://www.sigmakappa.org/
  • UNG Founding Date: April 17th 2004
  • Chapter Name: Kappa Lambda
  • Purpose: “To provide women lifelong opportunities and support for social, intellectual and spiritual development by bringing women together to positively impact our communities.”
  • Philanthropies: Inherit the Earth, Maine Seacoast Mission, Alzheimer’s, and Gerontology
  • Funds Raised in 2017-2018: $ 14,824.60
  • Average Chapter GPA, Spring 2018: 3.27
