Dr. Tofte began teaching adults in 1970 and has worked in the United States and in Asia. In 1988, he returned to the United States and began teaching sciences at the high school and college levels. He relocated to Gainesville in 2002 and again, taught science at the high school level. Beginning in 2006, he taught History at the current campus of the college that eventually became UNG.
Dr. Tofte developed large industrial training centers in the construction and energy fields to develop the work force and achieve work safety targets. These centers were located in Minnesota, Texas, New Mexico and internationally in the Peoples Republic of China and Indonesia.
Research in industry was done on a commercial basis and publications/papers were not available to the public.
Over the years, Dr. Tofte has worked as a University Instructor, Assistant Professor, Training Director, Project Manager, and Teacher. He retired from routine employment in 2017.
Dr. Tofte was born in Houston, Texas and worked in the United States and Asia. He is married and has three daughters and a host of grandkids.
