To earn the Honors designation when they graduate, students must maintain an overall 3.2+ GPA and earn the minimum number of Honors credit hours for their degree level. Regardless of degree level, however, students are encouraged to enroll in as many Honors courses as they feel comfortable taking.
Associate Degree Requirements
Students who plan to graduate from the University of North Georgia (UNG) with an associate degree must complete at least 12 Honors credit hours (the equivalent of six courses) in Areas A-F of the core curriculum. Completion of Honors credits, along with one academic presentation at an undergraduate research conference, will be recognized on the student’s transcripts by the designation “Honors Program Scholar.”
Bachelor's Degree Requirements
Students must complete a minimum of 24 Honors credits, six or more of which must be upper-division credits. At least three of these upper-division credits will be a Thesis or Capstone project related to the student's major. Completion of the above Honors credits (while meeting other criteria for good standing, such as meeting attendance, service hours, and a student leadership position) will be recognized on the student’s transcripts by the designation “Honors Program Graduate.”
