Environmental Studies Minor
Environmental studies has been a growing field for several decades, particularly since the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the 1970’s and recognition that the earth’s eco-systems are under tremendous strain. With the urgent need for examination of environmental practices and the formation of a society that can be sustainable, it is necessary to understand the interplay between the environment and the human dimension.
The environmental studies minor provides an interdisciplinary understanding of the environment as it examines the human-environment relationship from the sociological, historical, ethical, political, and psychological perspectives. Students who complete the minor will develop a broad understanding of social science and environmental issues that prepares them for further advanced environmental study or working in an area of environmental concern.
