BS in Physical Education with Teacher Certification (P-12)

Dahlonega Campus Only

The Department of Kinesiology at the University of North Georgia offers a physical education degree with an emphasis in teacher certification.

Program Description

Students successfully completing the teacher education program in physical education will be recommended for a Georgia Teaching License in Health & Physical Education (P-12).  This license will qualify the student to teach both health & physical education from pre-kindergarten through the 12th grade.  Before UNG can recommend a student for a teaching license, the student must provide evidence of passing scores for both parts of the GACE Content examination.

Plan of Study : 20142013 | 2011

Degree Map:  2017 | 2013 | 2011

All physical education teacher education students must apply to the UNG Teacher Education Program.  Students can enter the Teacher Education Program Spring Semester.  Admission to the program is required to enroll in the 3000-level and 4000-level professional education courses, PHED 3025 (Early Childhood Physical Education), PHED 3390 (Health Education), PHED 3400 (Adapted Physical Education), PHED 4010 (Creative Movement & Dance), and PHED 4025 (Middle & Secondary Physical Education Methods & Materials).

When to Apply for Admission

The PE Teacher Education program begins each spring and is a three-semester sequence.  Students must apply to the program the fall semester prior to the spring semester to which they desire admission.

Transfer students are strongly encouraged to be advised by a PE Teacher Education program advisor prior to the first semester to ensure accurate program sequence and to maximize their chance of being accepted by meeting UNG deadlines while still enrolled at their home institutions.
