About Us

The University of North Georgia Special Collections and Archives serves as the institutional memory of the university and its predecessors. As such, the UNG Special Collections and Archives is charged with the responsibility of collecting, arranging, preserving, and making available official University of North Georgia institutional records and supplementary records of historical, legal, fiscal, and/or administrative value from the university community.

The UNG Special Collections and Archives also seeks to support the university’s mission of academic excellence by serving as a resource for teaching and learning at the university and as a center for research and scholarship to the broader scholarly community. We similarly collect, arrange, preserve, and make available manuscript and rare book collections not directly connected with the university if the collection or item is relevant to the collecting interests established by the UNG Special Collections and Archives.
