To access the GIL-Find e-Shelf, click on Sign-in, then click on Students & Faculty.

Enter your UNG username and password. These are the same ones you use to access you UNG email.

Once you’ve signed in, then click on e-Shelf—it’s located at the top of the page. Once you accessed the e-Shelf, you will see any items you saved in the “Basket” area and/or any folders you created.

So why save items to the e-Shelf? Let’s say you found a book but you don’t have enough time to read it online or to check it out. By saving it the e-Shelf you can locate that item again easily. The e-Shelf also allows you to organize items that you find during your GIL-Find sessions and that can help you as you do research.

To access the e-Shelf, click on the e-Shelf link at the top of the page.

So how do you save items to the e-Shelf? It’s easy!

To save an item to the e-Shelf, simply click on the star icon by the item’s title in your results list. The star’s color will change to gold after you click on it. You can even save an entire page of search results by clicking on the star icon next to the words: Add page to e-Shelf.  This is located in the column on the left. Remember, you must sign in to save items in e-Shelf to be able to access e-Shelf content in another GIL-Find session.

To de-select an item, just click on the star again and this will remove the item from the e-Shelf and any folders you may have stored it in.    You can also go into the e-Shelf and remove items from the Basket and any folders you created.

To view items that are saved in e-Shelf, click on the item or items that you placed in the Basket, or in the Basket folders you created.

There are several ways to organize and manage content in the e-Shelf.  From the e-Shelf tab, you can perform the following operations listed here for folders you’ve created:

And from the e-Shelf tab, you can perform the following operations for individual items:

Remember, it’s a good idea to save items that are really important in more than one place. If there’s an information resource you want to keep track of, consider emailing the information about that item to yourself.
How do you do this?
Look in the Basket or your folders and select the item or items you want to email. Then look for the word Actions that’s located below the Basket on the right side of the page & click on it. Then click on E-mail and send. You’ll get an email from Primo. Be sure to check your spam or junk folders if you don’t find this email in your inbox.

You may want to choose the Permalink option, also located under Actions. Clicking on Permalink will generate a persistent URL link to the GIL-Find resource you placed in your Basket. You also can email information about a resource or create a Permalink without placing anything in the Basket. Just select an item in GIL-Find, then click on Actions on the right side of the page and then choose E-mail or Permalink.

Remember, there’s a lot of information in GIL-Find. The e-Shelf can help you manage it.
