Awad Awad

Title: Lecturer
Program Director of Arabic Study Abroad and Coordinator of Arabic Summer Language Institute
Phone: 706-864-1864

Office: Dunlap Hall, 112, Dahlonega

Since 9/11, Awad Awad dedicated his career to teaching Arabic, Islamic, and Middle Eastern studies related courses. Before joining our team in 2015, and after surviving many awkward moments and questionable at best fashion statements in Michigan and California from the late 1970’s to early 2000’s, he earned a master's degree in Arabic from the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures at UCLA.

Subsequently, Awad established several Arabic programs across California; held numerous lucrative part-time adjunct faculty positions at the University of California, California State University, and California Community College systems; and served as Arabic coordinator for the Silicon Valley Middle East Studies Consortium and Arabic Strategic Language Initiative before the Great Recession.

He is currently working on his doctorate at Georgia State University focusing on new trends in Arabic language pedagogy, intercultural communication, program design, and study abroad. Awad has various levels of proficiency in English, Arabic, Spanish, and Sarcasm.

In his spare time, he likes to travel to amazing and not so amazing places, hang out with awesome people, cook yummy food, and be a cool nerd. For the record, he usually does not speak in the third person.
