African-American Male Initiative

The African-American Male Initiative (AAMI) program is a University System of Georgia (USG) initiative that started more than 10 years ago. The purpose of which is to increase retention, progression, and graduation (RPG) rates of African American male students at USG institutions. The AAMI program at the University of North Georgia (UNG) is bearing fruit in terms of overall higher retention rates for AAMI students.

Leadership Retreat

As part of the African-American Male Initiative, students also participate in the summer Student Leadership Retreat alongside the MSA clubs, including Black Student Union. Every summer, the office offers a retreat dedicated to preparing student for the year ahead; activities include team-building opportunities, leadership workshops, hosting Welcome Day, and summer fun!
