Those who have always wanted to run a long-distance obstacle-course with a rubber duck in hand will soon have their chance.
The health, physical education and recreation faculty in the University of North Georgia's College of Education are co-sponsoring The Muddy Duck Dash on UNG's Gainesville campus on April 27. The event is a fundraiser benefiting the Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation.
The 2013 Muddy Duck Dash, sponsored by Safelite Autoglass, is a moderate 3.5 mile obstacle-style race with 12-15 various obstacles. All entries received before April 10 are guaranteed a free t-shirt, but the event is on pace to sell out; interested parties are recommended to register as soon as possible.
All racers will be provided a rubber duck as part of race packet that must be with them at all times during the run. There will also be a duck decorating contest, and all participants will receive dry-fit shirts.
The race will take place on Saturday, April 27 at 8 a.m., on UNG's Gainesville campus. Registration fees will be $40 until April 10, $45 from April 10-26, or $50 on race-day. Online registration will close at 11:50 p.m. on Thursday, April 24. Race-day registration will take place from 7-7:50 a.m. on April 27.
