Dr. Ruth Maher of the University of North Georgia’s Department of Physical Therapy has had her research recognized by several institutions recently:
- Maher received the best platform presentation award at the American Physical Therapy Association’s combined sections meeting this January in San Diego. Dr. Maher’s presentation was entitled "What comes up must come down? An analysis of the Periform Plus Intravaginal Sensor with indicator using simultaneous surface electromyography and ultrasound imaging in healthy continent women." She has also been invited to submit a manuscript of this research to a women’s health journal.
- Maher has been invited to give a platform and poster presentation at the International Urogynaecological Society's Annual meeting, to be held May-June in Maher’s hometown of Dublin, Ireland.
- On March 15, Maher successfully defended her PhD dissertation "Initial validation of an external electrode NMES protocol for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence" at University College Dublin, in Dublin, Ireland.
