Dr. Joseph Jones, associate professor of physics at UNG, recently attended the 222nd meeting of the American Astronomical Society in Indianapolis, IN. He participated in a two-day Astronomy 101 Tier-1-Teaching Excellence Workshop and volunteered as a Chambliss student poster judge.
"Undergraduate and early-graduate student poster presentations are judged at the meeting for awards, and participating in judging helps me in preparing my students for presentations at the local professional meeting, the Georgia Regional Astronomy Meeting, in the fall and at our spring research conference," Jones said.
Jones also presented a poster at the meeting. The poster is titled "Precision Differential Photometry from a Non-Precision Site," a subject that Jones says is growing in its potential for undergraduate research.
