Tangy C. Morgan, an internationally known insurance executive, will speak at the University of North Georgia in March (UNG) as part of the 2015 Cottrell Speaker Series hosted by the Center for the Future of North Georgia in UNG's Mike Cottrell College of Business.
Morgan is the founder and managing director of Fisher Morgan, which develops strategies to build sustainable businesses in the national and global market. Prior to owning her own consultancy, Morgan held senior executive positions with several major insurers and a reinsurer before becoming deputy head of underwriting performance with Lloyd's of London. After years spent traveling and working around the world, Morgan brings a global perspective on issues of leadership and diversity.
"It is an honor to have Tangy Morgan participate in our Cottrell Speaker Series this semester," said Dr. Donna Mayo, dean of the Mike Cottrell College of Business. "Her experience in industry and as an entrepreneur will provide a great learning opportunity for our students."
While Morgan's business experience has been international, her roots are local. Morgan grew up in Augusta, Georgia, where she attended Aquinas High School. She is a graduate of Tennessee State University, where she serves as a member of the Alumni Advisory Board for the College of Business.
"A number of our students are consistently curious as to how you become a business executive or international business executive," said Dr. Ruben Boling, director of the Center for the Future of North Georgia. "As a regional high school graduate, she can provide perspective on what it takes to move from being a student to being an international insurance executive."
The event will be held in the Dining Hall's banquet room on UNG's Dahlonega Campus on Wednesday, March 11 at noon. It is free and open to the public.
