The University of North Georgia (UNG) women's basketball team made its third consecutive appearance in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament semifinals, but fell to Georgia College & State University 65-51 on Saturday, March 7.
The UNG Nighthawks, going into the game ranked second in the PBC west division, made their fifth appearance in the conference tournament. UNG advanced to the semifinals after coming from behind to defeat Armstrong State University 75-72 in the recent PBC quarterfinal game.
The game, held at University of North Carolina-Pembroke, was the 63rd meeting between UNG and Georgia College. With the loss, UNG still holds a 37-26 all-time record over Georgia College, which is ranked fourth in the west division. During the regular season this year, both teams won at home against each other.
UNG's record drops to 21-9; the team was awaiting a potential at-large regional berth to the 2015 NCAA Division II Basketball Tournament on Sunday night. North Georgia was ranked No. 8 in the most recent Southeast region poll.
