Four members of the Alpha Upsilon Phi chapter of Sigma Tau Delta at the University of North Georgia (UNG) traveled to Albuquerque, New Mexico, during spring break for the international English honor society's annual convention.
The four-day convention featured critical and creative panels, leadership workshops, and presentations from authors Gary Soto, Simon Ortiz, and Leslie Marmon Silko. More than $10,000 in prizes was awarded for works presented at the convention.
UNG students Brittany Barron and Esther Stuart from the Alpha Upsilon Phi chapter gave presentations at the convention.
"I'm thankful to have had the opportunity to participate in the Sigma Tau Delta 2015 International Convention," Stuart said. "It was a rewarding experience to be surrounded by others with the same academic and creative interests as me."
Amanda Adams, chapter president, and Kimberly Griffin, chapter treasurer, also attended the convention.
The Alpha Upsilon Phi chapter based on the Gainesville Campus was chartered in the fall 2014.
