The University of North Georgia's (UNG) Testing Center will celebrate the opening of a new off-campus location in College Square, 3640 Mundy Mill Road, Oakwood, Georgia, Suite 176, on Oct. 15 from 1-3 p.m.
"I'm thrilled about being in our new location and thankful that this will provide the opportunity to grow the Testing Center to better meet the needs of our students and the surrounding community in many ways, but especially in the areas of UNG online courses, distance learning for other institutions and CLEP," said Kathy Rich, interim director of testing.
Testing services in the new space will be expanding in mid-November to include GACE testing for the Teacher Education Program and the HESI exam for the Nursing Department. Additional tests will be added in the future.
The following tests are currently available at the Gainesville Campus Testing Center, which also is open to those who are not UNG students:
"The new location offers easier access. There's more parking, and test-takers can avoid the heavy traffic that sometimes occurs on the UNG Gainesville Campus during peak times," said Bill Moody, director of facilities and operations south. "The move to College Square also frees up space in the Oakwood Building, where testing was previously located, to use for much needed faculty and staff offices."
The mission of the Testing Centers at UNG is to provide a professional testing environment for students and members of the community that enables test-takers to perform at their maximum ability. The centers also provide services to assist students and faculty in maintaining UNG's goal of academic excellence and leadership. To provide professional standards in testing services that reflect positively on the university, the Testing Centers maintain membership with and adhere to guidelines set forth by the National College Testing Association. Testing Centers at UNG can be found on the Dahlonega, Gainesville and Oconee Campuses.
Shuttle service from the Gainesville Campus is available to transport students to and from the off-campus site. For more information about the Testing Center visit www.ung.edu/testing
