UNG administrator wins Award of Excellence in Communications and Marketing

Kate Maine, associate vice president of university relations, received the 2016 Award of Excellence for Communications and Marketing from the Georgia Education Advancement Council (GEAC), at the group's annual conference in Savannah on Nov. 17. GEAC is a statewide organization comprising both public and private colleges and universities.

Maine joined the university in 2008 and her scope of responsibilities includes media relations, marketing, internal and external communications, website management, publications, licensing, special events, and more. In the past few years, Maine has helped lead UNG through consolidation and re-branding, to include a new communications platform this year that focuses on the university's leadership development mission.

Maine serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Education Advancement & Marketing and the communications advisory council for the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU). She presented at the Higher Education Symposium for the American Marketing Association in 2015 and chaired the AASCU Conference for Senior Communications Professionals in 2015 and 2016. Maine earned professional accreditation by the Public Relations Society of America in 2002 and graduated from the University System of Georgia's Executive Leadership Institute in 2016.
