UNG sets summer commencement for Aug. 1
(July 23, 2015) - The University of North Georgia (UNG) will hold its summer commencement ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 1 on the university's Dahlonega Campus. The ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. in the Memorial Hall Gymnasium, and will honor graduates of all UNG colleges and programs on all four campuses.
The guest speaker for the event will be Britney C. Vickery, CEO and founder of Initials, Inc.
Due to anticipated attendance, tickets are required for the ceremony. Students who have applied for summer graduation can pick up their graduation packets, which include their designated amount of six tickets, beginning the week of finals, July 27, at the bookstore on their home campus.
Graduates are instructed to read through all information and instructions given in the graduation packets, and should arrive at 1:15 p.m. to prepare and line-up for the ceremony. Graduates and guests should also allow extra time for traffic and parking when arriving for the ceremony.
A separate commissioning ceremony will also be held Aug. 1, beginning at 8 a.m., for members of the Corps of Cadets entering the armed forces as second lieutenants. Individual commissioning ceremonies for 16 cadets will be held in the atrium of the Brooks Pennington Jr. Military Leadership Center. A reception for commissioning cadets will be held immediately before each ceremony in room 112 of the Military Leadership Center.
Vickery has more than 17 years of professional and executive management experience, and Initials, Inc. has been ranked for four consecutive years to the prestigious Inc. Magazine 500/5000 list of America's fastest-growing, privately-held companies.

She left corporate America upon the arrival of her first child and then started Initials, Inc. from a spare bedroom in her Georgia home a year later.
Vickery is a graduate of Valdosta State University with a bachelor's degree in organizational communications. She is an active member of several civic and professional organizations, including her church, the North Georgia CEO Forum, and Vistage International.
