Nurse Executive Leader Certificate

The Nurse Executive Leader Certificate program prepares the post baccalaureate registered nurse for the multiple dimensions of administrative responsibilities within a variety of health care environments. The Nurse Executive Leader curriculum is strategically designed to include the core competency domains for health care leadership, which includes communication and relationship management, knowledge of the health care environment, leadership/professionalism, business skills and principles.

Nurse executive leaders have a unique role in blending business skills with health care expertise. In addition to providing leadership to a team of nurses, these leaders must employ executive business skills to ensure the best patient care possible is being provided. These include overall responsibility for training new nurses, staffing, performance evaluation, unit specific professional development, and oversight of patient care outcomes. Additionally, nurse executives are responsible for fiscal oversight of their nursing service area, personnel issues, and the development of multi-level policies and procedures.
