Toni Johnson

Toni P. Johnson, DNP, MSN, CNS-BC, CPAN is an assistant professor of Nursing for the College of Health Sciences & Professions. She is a graduate of Troy University School of Nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), and holds a Master of Science in Nursing degree in Adult Health with a minor in Nursing Education from Troy University. She also earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Columbus State University. Her capstone DNP project focused on the effects of diabetes and its impact on mediastinal rates of infection. She previously functioned in an advanced practice role as a clinical nurse specialist at Emory University Hospital, Midtown in the Cardiovascular step-down unit and in Perioperative Services. Dr. Johnson has served as an adjunct faculty member at Brenau University School of Nursing and as a clinical instructor/ course facilitator at Georgia Perimeter College for the Advanced Concepts of Nursing course. She arrived at University of North Georgia in August 2016. Her research and evidence-based practice interests include the association between pre-surgical HBA1C levels and mediastinal infection rates following major coronary revascularization.
