Advance Scheduling for Select Students at UNG

Congratulations on your acceptance and Welcome to the University of North Georgia!
  • The Advance Scheduling online form can only be submitted one time.
  • Changes may not be submitted later.
  • Schedule changes can be made at Orientation. In fact, we encourage all students to add at least one additional course if desired.
  • The deadline to submit the Advance Scheduling Form is 10 days prior to your scheduled orientation date.
  • Schedules will be built first-come first-served based on the earliest orientation date.
  • If you do not complete the Advance Scheduling Form, you will not receive an advance schedule and will need to build your schedule from scratch at orientation with the courses that remain open at that time.

NOTE:  The Advance Scheduling form is used to collect information needed to build class schedules.  A team of professional advisors will review the data and build class schedules for each new student according to the information collected.

You will NOT be selecting classes for the upcoming semester during this process. You will ONLY be providing information on personal schedule needs (day and time preferences). This information will be used to select classes with open seats that meet your individual needs as well as your programmatic requirements.

Instructions to access and complete the advance scheduling form are located below. (To learn more about the advance scheduling process, please read the frequently asked questions below.)

  • Advance scheduling will be available soon.
  • Login to Banner Web
  • Your username is your UNG network ID and password.
  • Once you login, choose the “Student” tab at the top.
  • Then click on “Advance Scheduling Form” at the bottom of the page based on your home campus.
  • Complete the Advance Scheduling form and submit it ten (10) days prior to your scheduled orientation date.
When will the advance scheduling form be available?
The advance schedule form will be available in November for the spring semester and in February for the fall semester. There will not be an advance schedule option for students starting in the summer. Once you complete the orientation registration process you will be able to access the advance schedule form. Please keep an eye on your UNG email for more information.
My friend and I submitted our advance schedule forms around the same time. He has a schedule in BANNER but I do not.
Schedules are completed on a first-come first-served basis based on the earliest orientation date utilizing the information provided. You will be given a copy of your schedule at orientation and you will have the opportunity to make changes and add additional courses during the orientation time set aside for advising and registration.
Where can I find a list of the required scores for Advanced Placement (AP) credit?
You can find more information on the AP Credits webpage.
I am interested in the UNG Honors program at UNG. Where can I find more information?
You can find more information on the Honors Program website.
Can I change my major from the major I declared on my application for admission?
You have the opportunity to change your major on the advance scheduling form.
What should I do if my Admission/Residence Status is incorrect on the form?

You should contact the Office of Admissions on the campus you are attending:

Dahlonega - 706-864-1800

Gainesville/Oconee/Cumming - 678-717-3641

If you are a ROTC student attending the Dahlonega Campus please contact Cadet Recruiting - 1-888-413-9366

When can I meet with an academic advisor for the first time?

You will meet with an advisor at orientation during the academic advisement session. You and your advisor will review your schedule and if changes are needed/desired, this is the time those changes can be made.

Do I need to contact the advance scheduling team if the information in my form isn’t accurate or has changed?

No, once you submit your form, you will not be able to submit changes. You will be given the opportunity to make changes at orientation.

If I need to make changes, when can I do so?

If you need to make any change regarding your form or information contained therein, you may do so at orientation. There will be time provided for this purpose.

Can I make changes to my advanced scheduling form once I submit it?

No. Changes cannot be made once you submit your advance scheduling form.

How many times may I submit my advanced scheduling form?

You may only submit the advance scheduling form one time.

Can I request classes at certain times?

No, due to the nature of advanced scheduling, it is impossible to guarantee classes at a certain time. On the advanced scheduling form, there is a place to make notes if you need to request classes in a general time frame due to relevant reasons such as work, child care needs, etc.

What happens if I miss this deadline or I do not submit a form?

You will not receive an advance schedule and you will have to build a schedule from scratch during orientation. This can be time consuming and frustrating for students. We recommend you submit the form and make adjustments to the advance schedule your receive if needed. Once it is past the deadline, you will not be able to submit the form.

What if I do not attend orientation?

Students that do not attend orientation will not have an advance schedule created. Those registered for orientation that miss their orientation date will have their schedules dropped if they do not notify Derek Sutton, special advising programs coordinator, within 24 hours of the orientation date. Your next opportunity to register for classes will be during the add/drop period at the beginning of the semester.  If you re-register for an orientation session, you will receive a new advance schedule prior to that orientation date with the classes still available at that time.

What if I have to arrive late or leave orientation early?

All attendees are required to participate in the entire orientation session. There will be various checkpoints throughout the orientation day(s). Students who are not with their group during these checkpoints will have their time tickets removed and there advance schedule dropped. All students who are advance scheduled are required to meet with an academic advisor during the academic advising portion of the orientation schedule. This occurs at a specified time of the day and is not flexible.

The orientation dates are released well in advance. It is your responsibility to make the necessary arrangements to be at the orientation session the entire time.

Who is eligible to participate in the advance schedule process?

Not all students are eligible for the advance scheduling process. It varies based on campus, major, and entry term.

Gainesville, Cumming, and Oconee freshmen students in select majors are eligible to submit an advance scheduling form after they make a reservation for an NSO session. The advance scheduling form will only be available to those who are eligible for the process.

All Dahlonega freshmen and transfer students will be able to complete the advance scheduling form after reserving a seat in an orientation session.

All Learning Support students will be able to participate in the advance scheduling process after reserving a seat in an NSO session regardless of their major or campus.

Only new select enrolling in the fall and spring terms will be able to complete the advance scheduling process.

Who can I contact for further assistance about advance scheduling?

You may contact Derek Sutton, special advising program coordinator at derek.sutton@ung.edu or 706-864-1402.
