Your Future at UNG: Transfer Tips & Academic Policies

In this session, we will discuss the pathways available throughout our five campuses at UNG and what to be on the lookout for if you are considering or pursuing a higher degree level or transferring in the future.

Finish your Orientation Day here: have your class schedule(s) reviewed, complete your student ID paperwork, and get any last questions answered. All students must check out with our staff after registration!

 

Transfer Student Orientation - Student Schedule

Grab your information packet and get ready for a jam-packed day!  All the materials you receive today are designed to guide you through your first semester, so be sure you keep them. Orientation Leaders and UNG staff members will be standing by throughout check-in, eager to answer your questions.

Welcome & Start-of-Term Info

In this session, you’ll hear essential information about how the University’s values and code of conduct affects our expectations of new students; the latest internal transfer policies and guidelines; and how to pay your tuition & fees before the deadline.

9:30 a.m.

Campus Tour & Transfer Experience

Orientation Leaders will guide you across campus to highlight important offices and give you a glimpse of campus life. Then you will join our Transfer Experience team to learn more about the transfer transition. Key resources, common transfer student issues, and success strategies will be discussed. In addition, you will be able to prepare yourself for your first semester at UNG and beyond by establishing career action plans and setting goals for your time on our campus.  We will also review the transfer articulation process and how to interpret your previously awarded coursework.

Advising and Registration Overview

This session will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to navigate UNG’s required core curriculum—in other words, how to choose the classes that will keep you on track to graduate in a timely manner. Staff advisors from each academic division will cover specific course requirements for a variety of UNG majors and teach you how to select and schedule classes using the Nighthawks Registration system.

11:00 a.m.
Class Registration

After a busy morning of events and information, you’re ready to schedule your first UNG classes! You’ll be assigned to a specific computer lab where you can login to Banner and explore the schedule of courses, select classes appropriate to your major, and register. Faculty advisors from each division will be around to provide support and guidance in choosing courses and building a schedule.
