    Overview

    Dr. Elizabeth Combier earned her Ph.D. in Romance Languages from the University of Georgia and specialized in Spanish Golden Age Theater with a secondary emphasis in Shakespearean theater. She has a Masters Degree in French from the University of South Carolina/Columbia. She has directed over a dozen plays in both Spanish and French at UNG and encourages theatrical performance in her classes as a medium for second language learning.

    She has extensive international experience having lived in France, Mexico, and Quebec, Canada and brings those perspectives to her classroom teaching. She has been honored many times for her teaching, including being named Distinguished Professor by the UNG Alumni Association in 2010.

    She served as the Faculty Associate to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and currently, as Department Head of Spanish, she oversees 30 faculty on 4 campuses. Her service interests include shared governance as she served as CEO of the Faculty Senate and was co-founder of the USG Faculty Council. She is also actively involved in negotiation and conflict resolution. She serves as a University System of Georgia mediator and coach for mediation training and has served at UNG as a trained ombuds for faculty and staff.
