The Dahlonega Staff Council Employee Scholarship Fund was created to provide financial support to qualified applicants who are pursuing a degree or certification that helps them realize their long-term career goals.
It is funded by tax-deductible contributions from donors, fundraising events sponsored by the Dahlonega Staff Council, and by special appropriations from the Dahlonega Staff Council budget. Award amounts may vary by applicant.
In the event that the Staff Council Employee Scholarship Fund balance reaches the Foundation’s then current minimum for the endowed funds, then current Staff Council leadership should be encouraged to enter into a standard trust agreement with the Foundation to manage the fund as an endowment, with only the available interest from the fund to be used for scholarship awards.
The Dahlonega Staff Council Employee Scholarship Committee will establish and publish the application schedule for Fall and Spring Semester scholarship awards.
The Committee will review properly submitted applications and make the final selection of scholarship recipients for the semester. They will be responsible for requesting the approved scholarship amount from available funds, from the Foundation in a timely fashion.
Members of the Staff Council Employee Scholarship Committee or their dependents will be ineligible to receive the scholarship while they are serving on the committee.
The applicant must be a full-time or part-time Dahlonega Campus staff member, with six months of continuous employment at the time of applying, and in good standing OR
A child or spouse of a full-time or part-time Dahlonega Campus staff member who meets the above employment requirement. The child must also be a dependent (under 24 years of age and receive at least half of their support from their parents).
The applicant must meet the minimum GPA requirement of 2.5 for current students or 2.75 for first-year freshmen, and remain in good academic standing.
Consideration will be given only to applications that are complete and properly submitted on the appropriate Dahlonega Employee Scholarship Application form, by the deadline for each semester. This includes a written 100-word essay that specifies your academic goals and needs. Please clearly demonstrate how this scholarship will assist the applicant in completing the degree/certification desired and accomplishing their long-term goals.
