Heather Turner is an alumna of UNG and began providing counseling for student services at the Dahlonega Campus in 2016. Heather is a Licensed Professional Counselor, obtained a Master of Science degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology from Brenau University, and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from UNG. Heather has over 9 years of experience working in the substance abuse field in a variety of settings.

This experience allowed Heather to gain counseling skills and experience for a variety of underlying issues accompanying substance abuse as well as experience in working with diverse cultures. Heather primarily operates from the Existential lens of psychotherapy and believes strongly in promoting self-awareness, empowerment, insight, and authenticity. Heather also incorporates solution-focused therapy, reality therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy into her counseling interventions. Heather is excited to have the opportunity to give back to the students at UNG as this is where Heather began her journey in accomplishing her career goals and she would like to help others accomplish the same.
