Monte Kuykendall            M.Div., M. A., LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

Monte joined Student Counseling in January 2011.  Monte obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion from Charleston Southern University in Charleston, SC.  He obtained both a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling, and a Master of Divinity from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.  He has been counseling individuals and families since 2000, some of whom were court mandated.  Monte believes strongly that the relationship between the therapist and client is the most valuable aspect of counseling (a belief influenced by the writings of Irvin Yalom, M.D.).  He also has an interest in integrating the client’s faith into his or her counseling.  Monte has experience in using multisystemic therapy, systemic family therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy.  His areas of interest include relationship issues, marital issues, premarital counseling, family issues (including family issues surrounding addiction), anxiety, depression, trauma-related issues, and grief.
